South Plainfield fire responded into the Avenel section of Woodbridge on New Year’s morning and took in a third alarm structure fire in a 250 x 400 class 2 warehouse. The fire originated in high piled storage within the structure and was contained by the buildings sprinkler system. Three handlines were in operation as the Avenel truck company vented above the fire. Numerous Middlesex County companies along with Union County EMS Task Force were in place for the duration of the fire. Bitter cold conditions contributed to making the suppression task that more difficult.
