Fire units responded to a reported structure fire on Front Street late Friday morning. Dispatch updated the response with a report of occupants trapped. Arriving units began operations on a 2 1/2 story class 5 structure with fire on Division 2 out three windows and a severe exposure problem on side D. Engine 5 arrived followed by Truck 7. The deck gun was placed into service off Engine 5 to knock down fire impinging on the D exposure. Three lines were stretched and placed into service. All searches were negative. Second alarm companies, Plainfield and New Market engine companies, were immediately put to work upon arrival. Cover companies were deployed to headquarters. Heavy fire extended to the attic space requiring extended overhaul operations. Fire damage did extend to the D exposure along with water damage from the suppression lines. The fire was placed under control and turned over to the Bureau of Fire Prevention for origin and cause investigation.
